The Common Stream

Project type

Theatre

Date

2026

A sister & brother story about failure and overcoming it. It weaves the mistakes we have made on a personal level with those we have made on an environmental level.

This play exists to raise awareness of the excessive abstraction done by water companies and the resulting environmental damage and loss of cultural identity to rural places.

The Common Stream is about single mother (Evie) and her wild Brother (Dylan) who after loosing relationships, money and their parents begin to receive strange visions whilst making ends meets to feed Evie’s newborn baby. They find shared ground in the outrage that the stream they spent their childhood by, has dried up and vanished. In an unlikely bond, they work together to become activists and bring back the stream and the voices of common people that have lived in the village for 2000 years.
